Peer Review Policy

Biomedicine and Chemical Sciences (BCS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of scholarly publishing through a rigorous, fair, transparent, and unbiased peer-review process. The journal employs a Double-Blind Peer Review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the review process.

Initial Editorial Assessment

Upon submission, manuscripts undergo an initial screening by the Editorial Office and Editor-in-Chief to evaluate:

  • Relevance to the journal’s scope

  • Originality and scientific merit

  • Compliance with author guidelines

  • Ethical considerations and research integrity

  • Overall manuscript quality

Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's requirements may be rejected without external review.

Double-Blind Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the initial assessment are assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers in the relevant field. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on:

  • Scientific quality and originality

  • Methodological rigor

  • Significance of findings

  • Clarity of presentation

  • Ethical compliance

  • Relevance to the journal’s scope

The identities of authors and reviewers are kept confidential throughout the review process.

Editorial Decision

Based on reviewers’ comments and recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief may reach one of the following decisions:

  • Accept

  • Minor Revision

  • Major Revision

  • Reject

The final decision regarding publication rests solely with the Editor-in-Chief.

Revision Process

Authors receiving revision requests should submit a revised manuscript along with a detailed response to reviewers’ comments within the specified timeframe. Revised manuscripts may be returned to reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.

Confidentiality

All manuscripts submitted to BCS are treated as confidential documents. Editors and reviewers must not disclose, discuss, or use unpublished information obtained during the review process for personal advantage.

Conflict of Interest

Editors and reviewers must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest that could influence their evaluation of a manuscript. Individuals with conflicts of interest will be excluded from the review process.

Ethical Standards

BCS follows internationally recognized ethical publishing standards and adheres to the principles and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).

Review Timeline

  • Average Time to First Decision: 15 Days

  • Average Review Time: 25–30 Days

  • Acceptance to Publication: 10 Days
